David Krayden: Trudeau Gets a Pass for Authoritarian Abuse of Freedom Truckers
Canadian Justice Paul Rouleau has finally published his final report to the Public Order Emergency Commission. This was an inquiry into Justin Trudeau’s decision to invoke authoritarian Emergencies Act Feb. 14, 2022.
Trudeau invoked the previously unutilized piece of legislation as a response to peaceful protests which had been taking place in Ottawa’s capital for three weeks.
Although it is true that there were other protests that blocked trade and traffic at key border crossings in Windsor, ON, and Couts, AB, these protests were over by the time Trudeau decided that he would crush the Freedom Convoy, which had arrived in Ottawa to protest Trudeau’s COVID-19 vaccination mandates. Tens of thousands more protestors joined the truckers.
These protests were It is well covered By Human Events And this correspondent at that time.
There were suspicions Justice Paul Rouleau would throw the inquiry Trudeau in his direction; that he was related to the Trudeau family. However, his final remarks in the executive summary are to The Report Public Inquiry into the 2022 Public Emergency” are telling.
“In this instance, I concluded that the threshold for invocation was exceeded. I have done it with reluctance. The state should be able to respond to urgent situations without resorting to emergency powers. If the state cannot fulfill its fundamental obligation of protecting the safety and security for all, then emergency measures may be required. Concerning the Cabinet’s emergency response measures, I believe that most of them were appropriate and efficient, but some fell short.”
Okay, so Rouleau says the “High threshold” has been met – so why the “reluctance?” Was he pushed to arrive at the conclusion that the Trudeau government clearly desired?
Interestingly, Rouleau also blames the truckers for bringing down the tyrannical arm of government because of “misinformation,” that boogeyman that means ‘anything liberals disagree with.’
“The Freedom Convoy was an extraordinary moment in history. It saw simmering social, economic, and political grievances exacerbated by the COVID-19 Pandemic. This complex online environment, filled with misinformation and disinformation, unleashed in a flood of social protest and unrest. It was extraordinary but not completely predictable. Pandemics are often accompanied by social disintegration and civil unrest. This is no exception.”
There was plenty of misinformation about the Freedom Convoy: that they were attacking residents, dancing on the Tomb of the Uknown Soldier, defacing statues and setting fire to buildings: all lies. The only valid Reported One of the reasons protest organizers set up “bouncy houses” where children could play was because they were able to provide them with entertainment. Jim Watson, then Mayor of Ottawa, was really annoyed by the idea. He was so obsessed with seeing people have fun during protests.
This report has over 2,000 pages and reads almost like a rehash of Trudeau’s talking points. This is a shameful validation of an authoritarian government, which believed it was entitled to suppress protestors and to freeze bank accounts of political enemies.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland promulgated the bank account freeze – that targeted not just active protesters but donors to a convoy fund as well — had the unmitigated gall to describe the freeze as an “economic incentive.” She addressed the notorious decision by claiming it somehow saved Canadian jobs, and again “peacefully” Protesters who were convinced “to go home.”
Uh huh. It was not clear if it was an act of intimidation or punishment to those who disagree with the Liberal Party’s ideology and values.
She called the Emergencies Act “a” “non-violent incentive,” That “peacefully” Protests against the Freedom Convoy were resolved.
Given the harsh reality, that was an amazing claim.
Tell that to the Mohawk woman, who was trampled on by a police horse and stood with the help of a walker. Candice Soro claimed that she suffered a broken collarbone. I spoke to her During a break in the Emergencies Act Inquiry. She said that she still feels pain from the attack.
This report is a brilliantly mundane whitewash of Prime Minister Trudeau and produces a mirror image of how the great man saw himself during the Freedom Convoy protests: a besieged leader trying desperately to save his people from an insurrection and to keep them cocooned in government lockdowns and COVID-19 mandates.
Justice Paul Rouleau clearly is one of those judges who keeps the verdict fresh in his mind even before the trial ends.
Trudeau should be held responsible and not excused for using the Emergencies Act against his political enemies. Trudeau spoke frankly in an interview at 2022’s end with his Montreal radio station host friend. admitted that raw retribution was his real motivation for using this authoritarian legislation – that it really had nothing to do with public safety.
Where was the crisis? “lawlessness” Are you a member of the Freedom Convoy As previously mentioned, border crossings were available and truckers were ready for their move off the street bordering the Parliament Hill. Trudeau, however, acted.
Isn’t it just the government’s desire to make a big deal of these blue-collar workers, who were clearly not backing Justin Trudeau or the Liberal Party of Canada?

This was the most organized and clean protest I have ever seen. It wasn’t there to inflict havoc on Ottawa; it was there for a desperate political point. The truckers didn’t terrorize, harass or attack any residents of the area; rather, they terrorized them.
If it had been the other direction, it is likely that mainstream media in Canada would have covered it. This was because it was lapdog news for the Trudeau government.
Despite all these efforts, the truth was revealed. Trudeau ended several COVID-19 mandates, and he is reluctant to derail the Canadian economy further with more lockdowns.
Many Freedom Convoy supporters expected that this report would sooth Trudeau’s political nerves and satisfy his ego.
However, Rouleau’s report will not convince everyone that what they witnessed wasn’t what actually happened. Canada and other countries are experiencing a high level of distrust in the government.
Trudeau is silently celebrating today. Trudeau is quietly celebrating today’s success by asking a judge for a painting of the prime minister in the way he sees it.
His goal for 2023 is to move on from this sordid incident and to present himself as the savior of Canadian socialized medicine – a dysfunctional healthcare system This has led to long waiting periods for even the most basic medical procedures, and hundreds of thousands of Canadians have crossed the border to the U.S. in an effort to get immediate or timely treatment.
It could also be Trudeau’s last political form and not strong enough or credible enough to win the next federal election. He is an expert at exploiting crises.
“This pandemic has provided an opportunity for a reset. So this is our chance to accelerate our pre-pandemic efforts to reimagine economic systems that actually address global challenges like extreme poverty, inequality, and climate change,” In a video recording, Trudeau is seen delivering a speech to U.N. This article was featured TTonight, ucker Carson
The pandemic also offered another opportunity to test the Emergencies Act. Trudeau took advantage of this opportunity with both his hands.
