Democrat Sen. Jacky Rosen Declares 2024 Reelection Bid for Vulnerable Seat

Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) has announced her plans to run for a second term in the Senate in 2024. She is hoping to defend a seat that Republicans are attempting to flip.

In a statement, the senator stated that she ran for office to make a difference in people’s lives and to solve problems. She mentioned that she has helped pass laws aimed at tackling issues and improving people’s lives. Rosen also urged support from Democrats in her reelection bid.

Rosen won her first Senate term in 2018, defeating incumbent Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) with 50.4 percent of the vote. She is a former computer programmer.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is asking supporters to back Rosen’s reelection bid. The campaign is expected to be challenging, with the outcome having the potential to decide Senate control. Nevada’s other Senate seat is held by Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.), who won reelection in 2022 by less than 8,000 votes.

Ronda Kennedy, a lawyer who has never held office, is the only Republican candidate who has announced a bid for the seat so far. Rep. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.), the only Republican in Congress from the state, has stated he will not run for the Senate.
