Democratic representative from the Virgin Islands to the US Congress, Stacey Plaskett, recently wrote a letter to blogger Matt Taibbi accusing him of fraud and warning that he could spend up to five years in prison.

Independent journalists Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger discussed their responsibilities in the publication of the” Twitter Files” in a March testimony before the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee on the Weaponized Federal Government.

Plaskett referred to Taibbi and Shellenberger as” so-called editors” during the hearing and was decided to cast doubt on their credibility and evidence while requesting that the editors disclose their resources. Taibbi refused to give the Democrat his source and responded with the accolades and awards he has received over the course of his career, which have solidified him as a professional journalist.

The Democrat, meanwhile, has intensified her efforts to disgrace the Taibbi. She accused the journalist of fraud, which is punished by up to five years in prison, in a email she sent to him on April 13. Lee Fang, a poet who collaborates with Taibbi, obtained the text.

In an interview with MSNBC network Mehdi Hasan, Plaskett charged Taibbi with misrepresenting his evidence regarding Twitter. Taibbi was charged with confusing CISA with the private nonprofit organization, the Center for Internal Security ( CIS ), when he appeared on the show with Hasan. Taibbi had acknowledged that he had used the phrases incorrectly in his message.

Plaskett charged Taibbi with disseminating” misinformation” and” alleging that CISA, a government agency, was working with the EIP to possess messages removed from public media.”

Although these errors may seem insignificant to you, she warned that Congress may rely on false testimony when debating and / or passing new legislation that would affect all Americans. ” I would like to offer you the chance to perfect your remarks before the panels in light of the potential for such dangerous consequences.”

The Democrat reminded Taibbi at the end of her notice that he had previously signed a document stating that his evidence was accurate to the best of your knowledge, information, and perception” under charges of perjury” before appearing before the committee.

According to the national perjury legislation, giving false information can result in up to five years in prison, she continued.

Fang disproved the Democrat’s’s assertion that Taibbi had lied in a tweet on Substack.

He wrote,”[ T ] he record shows that CISA, the government agency, was involved in the very formation of EIP and was one of the most important government partners to the group in its bid to influence content moderation decisions at firms like Facebook and Twitter.”

As a result of the text, Plaskett is currently the target of criticism from numerous editors who have criticized her notice.
