Democrat witness fails to cite any study supporting benefits of sex-change treatments for minors.

Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw Challenges Democratic Witness on Lack of Evidence for Gender Transition Treatments

In a fiery exchange, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) confronted Dr. Meredithe McNamara, a professor at the Yale School of Medicine, about the lack of evidence supporting the benefits of sex change treatments for children. The exchange, shared on Twitter by The Post Millennial, revealed that McNamara was unable to cite any peer-reviewed studies to support her claims.

Crenshaw pressed McNamara to provide specific evidence, challenging her to name a study that supports the effectiveness of gender transition treatments for minors. However, McNamara could only refer to the vague “standards of care” without providing any concrete evidence.

Crenshaw countered with references to reviews from reputable medical journals such as the British Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. These reviews concluded that there is little evidence to support the benefits of gender transition treatments for minors.

The debate between Crenshaw and McNamara took place during a hearing on Crenshaw’s bill, which aims to block federal funding for hospitals that offer gender transition treatments to minors. Crenshaw argued that strong evidence is necessary to justify the use of taxpayer money for such controversial procedures.

Crenshaw also criticized the Democrats’ use of the term “standards of care,” calling it propaganda rather than an accurate representation of the data. He argued that “gender-affirming care” is based on pseudoscience and radical ideologies.

To support his position, Crenshaw cited a Washington Post poll showing that 68% of Americans disapprove of using puberty blockers on minors. He also referenced the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funding for abortion, as a precedent for his legislation.

Crenshaw emphasized the need to respect the opinions of the majority of taxpayers who oppose funding gender transition treatments for minors. He pointed out that even the U.K.’s National Health Service has limited access to such procedures for minors.
