Democrats urge Incompetent Transportation Secretary Buttigieg to change” prejudiced website enforcement.”

A letter calling on Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to reclaim what they refer to as” racist website protection” against Black men has been signed by more than two dozen Democrats.

The letter was sent to Buttigieg on Thursday by a group of 27 Democrats, including” Squad” Reps. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Cori Bush of Missouri, Jamaal Bowman of New York, and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. They demanded that he denounce America’s’s” harmful” traffic enforcement practices and create reforms that” support the wellbeing of Black people traveling on our nations’ roads and highways.”

The group wants Buttigieg to use the bipartisan infrastructure law of President Biden to fund reforms that” move our country closer to transport capital.”

Under the pretense of traffic enforcement, African drivers have faced excessive scrutiny and pressure on our country’s’s roads and highways, according to the letter. ” In your capacity as Secretary of the USDOT, we implore you to criticize the current system of traffic police and create measures to lessen racial disparities in website stops.”

Major EXAMPLE OF FAILING UP: BUTTIGIEG BATTERED BY Problems IN FIRST TWO Year AS TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY.

In their letter, the Democrats argued that money from the Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act, which was passed by Congress in 2021 with little Republican support, should be used for website police innovation, such as” eliminating financial barriers to engine registration and upgrading website lamps.”

Additionally, the letter stated that some states and localities, including Virginia, Oregon, and Philadelphia, have implemented structural changes to move infractions of small traffic, such as a single missing taillight or an object dangling from rearview mirrors, out of the reach of armed police officers. ” The integrity and security of the Black community should not be sacrificed for the sake of website safety.” Racial policies, dated facilities, and a lack of oversight are to blame for the current state of unfair traffic police.

Buttigieg has hitherto stated that he wants to combat racism that has been ingrained in the nation’s’s bridges, roads, and roads. After claiming that the federal government had a” moral” duty to address systemic racism in the county’s’s infrastructure, he sparked conservative backlash in November 2021.

The secretary said at the time,” What we’re’re doing is reconnecting people who may have been disconnected or divided by discriminatory decisions in the past.” That benefits everyone. I’m’m not sure why anyone would object to reuniting people who have previously experienced discrimination.

Fox News Digital was informed by the Department of Transportation that it would instantly contact congressional representatives to follow up on the email.

According to a director,” The Department takes this problem very truly.” ” We will continue to work to ensure that our traffic safety initiatives, such as grant-making, continue both comfort and equity.”
