EXCLUSIVE — The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is poking fun at House Republicans ahead of a busy three-week session on Capitol Hill, showcasing moments from the GOP “circus” as lawmakers return to vote on a spending deal package and other messaging bills.

In a video released Monday and shared first with the Washington Examiner, the DCCC highlights several moments from the 2023-24 Congress under GOP leadership as the days narrow toward the 2024 election, where control of the House is likely to come down to a handful of competitive swing seats.

The Democrats’ campaign arm video features a clip of House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) at the Republican National Convention saying, “We in the Republican Party are the law-and-order team,” with news and speech clippings of gaffes and scandals from firebrand GOP conservatives like Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Lauren Boebert (R-CO).

“House Republicans are back in town for the final weeks of their chaotic, dysfunctional, disastrous majority before Election Day, and Mike Johnson is nowhere near an adept enough ringmaster to keep things on the rails,” the DCCC said.

Several clips in the video point to Boebert, including a situation in September last year when she apologized for her “eccentric” behavior at a production of Beetlejuice at a theater in Denver, where patrons reported that she and her male guest were vaping and taking flash photos during the performance.

Another clip shows former New York Rep. George Santos singing his “favorite” Taylor Swift song, “I Knew You Were Trouble,” in a Cameo video in December.

Some of the DCCC’s video pokes at former President Donald Trump being selected as the Republican presidential nominee, followed by a clip of Hulk Hogan ripping off his shirt and saying, “Let Trump-a-mania run wild, brother” at the RNC and a news clip noting Trump’s guilty verdict in his New York fraud case, for which the sentencing is set for after the 2024 election.

“A real circus would be infinitely more professional and committed to delivering for the people than this ridiculous GOP knockoff of the big top,” DCCC spokesman Jacob Haythorn said in a statement. “The DCCC will continue to call these clowns out for failing the American people for the past two years.”

Eyes will be on the House this week as the lawmakers prepare to vote on a continuing resolution that includes the SAVE Act, a voter integrity bill that is all but assured to die in the Democratic-led Senate if it happens to pass the House.

Senior Senate Democrats have already blasted Johnson for “wasting precious time catering to the hard MAGA right,” and with a four-seat majority, it will be an uphill battle for GOP leadership to push the continuing resolution through, as some hard-line conservatives are already pushing back against the spending bill.

“Extreme House Democrats supported Border Czar Kamala Harris as she opened the country to a flood of violent illegal migrants and voted to green-light the inflation crisis,” National Republican Congressional Committee national press secretary Will Reinert said. “It’s laughable at how they’ll attempt to talk about anything but the issues that will decide the election.”
