Democrats Go All In On Fundraising Off Of Jan. 6 Hearings
Democratic Party committees sent out several emails before Thursday’s hearing to gauge financial support from their base for the party’s ongoing inquest into the events at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
The U.S. House select committee’s Thursday hearing on their Jan. 6 findings is being used to drive up donation dollars for the Democratic Party going into the November midterm elections, Axios reported.
Several emails like the one sent by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) on June 8 to supporters asked if they’ll be watching the Thursday night Jan. 6 hearing, according to a web archive of political emails.
“The January 6 Committee has been working tirelessly to investigate the Capitol insurrection and hold its perpetrators accountable. And now, investigators will FINALLY get the chance to unveil their findings to the public now that televised hearings are set to begin tomorrow,” the DCCC email stated.
The email included a promise from Democratic Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin, who sits on the Jan. 6 Committee, that “the hour of truth is coming.”(RELATED: January 6 Committee Sends Clear Message To Reporters: This Is About 2024)
We’re not playing along with the January 6 show trial hearing. The whole thing is insulting. They are lying, and we’re not going to help them do it. https://t.co/GT9NLRN9D2 pic.twitter.com/PDT9g758br

Raskin has appeared in a number of DCCC political ads asking for donations while speaking about the Democrats’ investigation into Jan. 6, according to Axios.
Longtime Democratic digital strategist Murshed Zaheed told Axios that the emails will boost campaign donations from the activists within the base who are most likely to give money but won’t do much to former President Donald Trump legally.
“It’s unclear how much of it to actually move the needle in holding Trump accountable,” Zaheed told Axios. “The primary purpose of it is going to be fundraising for a lot of the Democratic Party institutions and establishments.”
Other Democratic committees have tied fundraising appeals to the televised hearings, including the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and the Democratic Association of Secretaries of States, the outlet reported.
Defending Democracy Together Institute recorded the Democrat super PAC, American Bridge, sending over 70 fundraising emails since May using the phrase “insurrection,” reported Axios.
American Bridge senior adviser Paul Eaton told Axios that the email campaigns are successful because the super PAC’s base is still pushing for the investigation to continue.
“Our base of progressive military veterans, families and their supporters click through our emails at an especially high rate when we’re promoting our work to hold insurrectionists accountable and beat back disinformation, like the Big Lie,” Eaton told Axios. “[T]hey still take the rule of law, and our Constitution, incredibly seriously and realize we’re at a defining moment.”
“We strongly believe that the majority of voters also realize this, which is why we’re not going to shy away from this issue in 2022,” he added.
