Democrats’ Last-Resort Attack On Brad Schimel Is ‘Eff You!’

As Wisconsin’s supreme Court election on April 1 approaches, conservative candidate Brad Schimel is actively campaigning to mobilize voters, drawing support from high-profile figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The election is projected to cost at least $100 million as efforts ramp up to engage disenchanted voters. His opponent, liberal candidate Susan Crawford, has focused her campaign on attacking Schimel, notably spreading false claims regarding his handling of a backlog of rape kits. The negative tone of the race has escalated to the point where crawford’s supporters resort to using rude and obscene language in their ads, indicating a shift in strategy as Democrats attempt to connect with voters.

This shift is partly a reaction to the political landscape after Trump’s election, where conservatives have embraced a rebellious persona, leaving Democrats to adopt a more vulgar dialog style as a way to resonate with the youth and challenge societal norms. Critics argue this approach devalues respectful dialogue and undermines serious political discourse, suggesting that the left’s reliance on profanity is a sign of desperation rather than a viable political strategy.Ultimately, the ongoing campaign in Wisconsin serves as a test case for the Democratic Party’s evolving tactics, which so far reflect a lack of constructive arguments and a preference for shock value. The article concludes with a call for political leaders to provide more substantive engagement rather than resorting to crude expressions.

Wisconsin’s pivotal Supreme Court race is in its home stretch. With the April 1 election date rapidly approaching, conservative candidate Brad Schimel has been hot on the campaign trail.

The weekend before the election, he is set to make stops across the state, encouraging conservative voters to show up like they did for President Trump in November. Schimel has found support from a variety of national political rock stars, including Trump himself and Elon Musk. Projections show this race will end up costing at least $100 million, a price tag associated with motivating disengaged voters to show up on Election Day.

Schimel’s opponent, the notoriously pro-abortion liberal candidate Susan Crawford, has focused much of her campaign on attacking Schimel. The cornerstone of her slander was an allegation that Schimel had not successfully processed a backlog of rape kits, which was determined to be a lie. In reality, Schimel tested the kits based on victims’ consent. However, Crawford’s campaign pushed misleading ads about the situation for weeks. After being called out for the flagrant deception, the pro-Crawford crowd adopted a new, more profane strategy.

In the middle of a YouTube cooking tutorial I watched recently, a loud ad cut through the demure sound of Stanley Tucci making spaghetti. “Are you under 26?” the ad asked, followed by a screeching, “F-ck you! That’s what Brad Schimel thinks.” I stood there for a moment in awe, holding my colander as I waited for my pasta to become al dente. Crawford’s backers couldn’t get away with outright lies, so they resorted to obnoxious obscenity.

The Democrat Party has lost a lot of its momentum. With Trump’s successful campaign and booming victory, conservatives shook their “uncool” moniker and adopted their new role as fresh, fashionable outsiders. Republicans were the rebels, and Democrats became the dated establishment. In other words, they were boring. The left was best represented by nagging schoolteachers and librarians, by HR heads waiting with arms crossed to catch you having fun. Trump-era politics loosed the leftists’ grip on youth culture.

With their time-tested strategy of appealing to voters’ emotional and rebellious natures falling flat, the Democrats shifted their strategy. They couldn’t give up the woke ideology that was the backbone of their messaging, so the nagging and tsk-tsking had to persist. However, they could try something so overtly childish that it would go beyond the limitations of what most conservatives were willing to attempt with their populism. They could fracture societal conventions. They could start swearing.

The sailor-mouth trend intensified around the time Trump got sworn into office. Democrat governors, lawmakers, and figureheads almost unanimously coalesced around this new approach to politics. For example, Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., was recently quoted saying, “Pete Hegseth is a f-cking liar.” Instead of coming up with thoughtful, rational arguments, Democrats’ talking points were boiled down to expletives and exasperation.

The leftist rationale for their vulgarity is simple: They have to swear because they’re just so fed up with Republicans! There’s nothing else to say. But this ignores the importance of respect and legislative communication. Swearing is a way to feign discourse while diminishing dialogue about citizens’ concerns. It is a way to shut down conversation without justifying one’s position. It’s a way for the Democrat Party to look down their noses at the Trump-voting American people and claim we’re too stupid to comprehend their talking points, so all we get instead is a curse word.

The left desperately wants to follow the populist fad of shaking up cultural customs. For conservatives, this means trading the worst aspects of modernity for the timeless joys of tradition. For Democrats, this means upending a whole new corner of the social fabric. Swearing has long been kept out of the public square, and for good reason. Even many professional, adults-only environments, such as offices, frown upon profanity. Swearing is best suited for instances of stubbed toes and having a few too many at the bar. It doesn’t belong in the halls of Congress or our leaders’ public statements. Republican officials who have taken a cue from Democrats and gotten a little loose with their language should take note: It’s not a good look.

But Democrats’ scramble to find a transgressive new identity is especially tiresome. Watching elected officials continuously stand on their public platforms and spew obscenities is another way for them to mock constituents. Americans are hungry for greatness and are eager to see the country flourish. Being foul will not help bring that vision to fruition.

Susan Crawford’s allies replaced lying with in-your-face profanity. The Wisconsin Supreme Court election is just one Democrat testing ground for how their party can move forward. So far, the only thing written in their playbook is “Screw you!”
