Democrats lose touch with voters over Musk, Trump, DOGE – Washington Examiner
The article discusses the disconnect between Democratic lawmakers and voters concerning their attitudes toward prominent figures like president Donald trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk. It highlights that a significant portion of the electorate, as shown in recent Rasmussen Reports surveys, prefers Democrats to collaborate with Trump rather than oppose him. The article points out that voters generally hold positive views of Musk, especially his involvement in a new initiative aimed at increasing government efficiency.
despite democrats’ dismissive rhetoric toward Trump and Musk—which includes crude and aggressive remarks—polls indicate that a majority of voters believe in the importance of reducing waste in government. Voters seem to favor efficiency measures proposed by Trump and Musk, with many expressing disapproval of the Democrats’ approach. Consequently, the article suggests that the Democrats’ current trajectory could alienate them from potential supporters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, as a considerable number of voters specifically want to see action against government waste, fraud, and abuse.
Democrats lose touch with voters over Musk, Trump, DOGE
The crude and insulting attacks Democratic lawmakers have leveled at President Donald Trump and Elon Musk threaten to drive away voters who want the party to work with the new president to cut wasteful spending.
In two Rasmussen Reports surveys shared with Secrets, voters by a wide margin of 19 points prefer the opposition party to work with Republican Trump.
What’s more, they generally have a positive view of Musk and approve of him leading the new Department of Government Efficiency.

The two polls revealed just how dangerous Democratic opposition to Trump and Musk could be, especially if support for the president’s efficiency movement continues to be supported by the country heading into the upcoming mid term elections.
Over the past two weeks, Democrats have protested the president’s moves to close USAID and the Department of Education, charging that he is threatening democracy. In a Tuesday protest, Rep. Maxine Dexter (D-OR) told government union workers, “We have to f*ck Trump!” Today, during an initial House DOGE hearing, Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) used what he called a “d*ck pic” to attack Musk.
Voters, however, have a different view of Trump and Musk.
In one survey, Rasmussen found that 55% of voters believe Democrats should work with Trump. Another 36% said Democrats should resist “in every way possible.”
And the outfit found that the image of the party has sunk further since Trump returned to the White House. “Only 15% of voters think Democrats have gotten better since last year’s election, while 42% believe Democrats have gotten worse since losing last November,” said the poll analysis.

Separately, 55% of likely voters said that they approve of Musk heading DOGE, and 52% have a favorable impression of Musk.
And maybe worst of all for Democrats protesting the audits and cuts of government waste singled out by Trump and Musk, an overwhelming 86% said it is important to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse in government.
