Democrats dismissing the idea of replacing Biden with Michelle Obama as a baseless conspiracy theory

You’ve heard the rumors.

For months, conservative commentators have openly speculated that President Joe ‌Biden‘s underwater polling‌ will bring Democrats to dump the incumbent president and nominate someone ⁢else at the Democratic National Committee in August.

Pundits casually tossed around names like Govs. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) and J.B. Pritzker (D-IL), but in the days after special counsel Robert Hur detailed what he described as Biden’s failing ‌memory⁢ and mental faculties, one person in particular has‌ emerged as⁢ the internet’s clear choice to take over for Biden in ⁣the White House: former first lady Michelle Obama.

Only multiple Democratic strategists tell the Washington ‍Examiner⁤ that there’s “no way in hell” ⁤that happens.

“I’m sure there are some people in the party who wish Mrs. Obama would⁣ run for the presidency, but she’s made ⁣it very clear⁤ that she has no designs on seeking higher office ‍herself,” ‍one strategist familiar with Biden’s campaign strategy stated.

“This is ⁤just some ginned-up conspiracy dreamed ⁣up by grifters to spoon-feed to MAGA extremists,” a second strategist added. “There’s just one problem. We ⁢live in reality.”

The Obamas left the White House seven‌ years ⁣ago, and the former first lady remains one of the most popular‍ figures within the Democratic Party, not to ‍mention one of the most famous people on the planet. However, while Obama, a trained lawyer,‍ has‍ maintained ⁢that Biden has done a strong job as president, ‌she stopped short of fully ‍endorsing⁤ his⁢ reelection bid in 2022.

Multiple Democratic strategists tell the Washington Examiner that there’s “no way in hell” former first lady Michelle Obama‌ replaces President⁣ Joe ‍Biden as Democrats’ 2024 presidential nominee. And Obama herself said on a podcast in January that she’s “terrified” about the potential outcomes⁢ of the ⁣coming election.

“Our leaders matter. Who we select, ‌who speaks for us, who holds that⁤ bully pulpit, it affects us in ways sometimes I think people take for granted,” she told On Purpose host Jay Shetty. “The fact that people think that government — ‘Eh, does it really even do anything?’ — and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, does government do everything for ⁤us, and we cannot take this democracy for granted,’ and I worry sometimes that we do. Those are the things that keep me up.”

Still, ⁢the former first lady has steadfastly rejected the idea of launching her own campaign for the White House, or any other public office for that matter.

In 2017, she specifically⁢ discussed the emotional toll her‌ husband’s two terms placed on their two daughters, claiming that she “wouldn’t ask ⁣my children to do this again because when ⁢you run for ⁢higher office, it’s not just you. It’s your whole family.”

“The reason why I don’t want to run for president —⁤ and I can’t speak for Oprah [Winfrey] — but my sense is ‍that, first of all, you have to want the job,” she added during a speech at the ⁢39th annual Simmons Leadership‍ Conference in 2018.

“I’ve never had the passion for politics,”‌ Obama⁤ continued. “I just happened to be married to somebody⁢ who has the passion for ⁤politics, and he drug me kicking‍ and screaming into the ‌arena.”

Conservative talking heads both in and out of government, ranging from the fringe talk show host Alex Jones to former 2024 Republican presidential‌ candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, have all claimed since Thursday that Hur’s report will expedite an effort ‍to ⁤circle the party’s wagons around Obama⁢ in August ⁢despite declarations from Biden’s campaign surrogates that the president remains their “guy.”

“I’ve said for over a ‍year many times that Joe Biden would⁤ not be on the ticket ‍and Michelle Obama would be⁣ the likely nominee. It’s clear the Democrat deep state run by Barack ⁢Obama knew they had to‍ take him down⁢ to give them a chance in November,” Patrick wrote on Twitter on Friday morning. “He⁣ doesn’t have‍ a memory and Kamala doesn’t have a brain. Now they⁤ have a real problem.”

“We have to ‍do ⁤the math, skate to where the puck is going, not fall for the deflection,” Ramaswamy said in a Fox News interview Thursday night. “I do think what they’re planning for⁢ is to sideline Biden as ⁤the nominee and trot in a different puppet instead. That’s the most ‍significant takeaway from⁤ tonight.”

Jones claimed on his Thursday night broadcast that media outlets like the New York Times and Wall Street⁣ Journal are “pressuring Biden to step down so that Michelle Obama can be inserted coming up at the Democratic National Convention this ⁣summer.”

And even before the special counsel report was made public, New York Post gossip ‍columnist Cindy Adams brought‍ the Obama conspiracy back to the public discourse by asserting in a January column that,⁣ according to anonymous sources, the Obamas have been⁤ polling‌ Democratic⁣ donors about a potential last-minute bid from Obama and‍ putting⁢ the wheels in motion to have Biden drop out of the race over‍ the summer.

Hypothetically, at this ⁣point in the ⁤race, ‌Democrats could only⁣ supplant Biden as the party’s nominee at a brokered convention in August, as the overwhelming majority of filing deadlines for primary contests have already expired.

Current party rules dictate that a ‌nominee earn a majority (1,968) of⁣ the ⁢pledged⁣ delegates acquired through state primaries and caucuses, or the convention will move to a⁣ second ballot vote. ⁢In this second vote,⁤ and any subsequent votes, an additional 739 auto delegates, previously known ⁣as superdelegates, will be allowed to vote on their choice of nominee. Any nominee must then win a majority (2,258) ‍of all 4,672 delegate‌ votes on those ⁤secondary ballots.

However, the 91 pledged delegate⁤ votes Biden earned with landslide victories in South Carolina and Nevada, plus any additional⁤ pledged delegates he accrues between now ‍and a hypothetical ⁣suspension of his campaign, would become unpledged at ⁤the convention and could vote for whomever they so choose⁤ on the party’s first nominating ⁢ballot, Josh‍ Putnam, a political consultant at FHQ Strategies⁣ previously told the ‌Washington ⁢Examiner.

“But⁤ it all hinges on when Biden is no longer in the race,” Putnam said. “Basically, how much of primary season happens without the incumbent in the contest?”

What‌ evidence has been provided by Democratic strategists to dismiss the claims of a plot to replace Biden with Michelle Obama?

Nd CNN are in on‌ the plot to replace Biden with Michelle Obama. He suggested that Hur’s report was strategically timed to pave the ⁤way for Obama’s entrance ⁤into the race.

However, these claims have been dismissed by Democratic strategists and representatives. They argue that Michelle ‌Obama has repeatedly⁤ stated her lack of ⁢interest in running for office and‌ has no intention of replacing Biden as the Democratic nominee in 2024. They view these rumors as nothing more ‌than conspiracy theories ‍concocted by grifters and extremist factions.

The Obama name still carries significant weight within the Democratic ⁢Party, and Michelle Obama remains a highly popular figure. However, she has ‍been careful not to fully endorse Biden’s reelection bid. In a podcast interview earlier this year, she expressed ‌her concerns about‌ the upcoming ⁢election and emphasized the importance of selecting effective leaders.

Michelle Obama’s resistance‌ to ⁢entering the political ⁢arena herself is well-documented. She has emphasized the toll that her ‌husband’s presidency took on their family, particularly their daughters. She has stated that she ⁢lacks the passion for politics and was brought into ‌the arena⁣ by her husband.

Despite these clear statements, conservative commentators and figures continue to push the narrative that Biden will be replaced by ⁣Michelle Obama. They argue that Hur’s report on Biden’s mental faculties ⁣is a⁣ strategic move to pave the way for Obama’s entrance‌ into‌ the race. However, these claims lack substantial evidence and are dismissed by Democratic ⁢strategists.

It is essential to separate fact from speculation, especially when it comes to matters as significant as presidential elections. While rumors⁣ and‍ conspiracy‍ theories may circulate, it is crucial‌ to rely on credible sources and the statements of the individuals ‌involved. In‌ this case, Michelle Obama has consistently expressed her lack of interest in running for office, and Democratic strategists confirm that there is no reality to the rumors of her ⁣replacing Biden in 2024.

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, it is crucial to engage in informed and responsible discourse. Baseless rumors and conspiracy theories only serve to further divide the⁢ American public and undermine the democratic ‍process. It ⁢is important to⁣ focus on the ⁤candidates and ‍their policies rather than engaging in speculative gossip. The American people deserve a fair and transparent election, free from unfounded rumors and misinformation.
