Democrats resisting Trump’s plan to drain the swamp

President Donald Trump’s long effort to slash the bloated federal workforce is being met with resistance from Democrats who strongly disapprove of his offer to some 2 million bureaucrats to resign.

In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets, Democrats turned up their nose to the offer and were lukewarm to his push to get the federal workforce back into empty offices cleared out nearly five years ago when the COVID-19 crisis hit.

In the new poll of one of Trump’s top issues, 67% of voters overall sided with Trump in wanting federal workers to return to the office.

However, among Democrats, there was a split, with 52% favoring a return and 43% opposing it. Republicans, by an 86%-12% margin, approved of a return.

On the offer to resign, the Democrats were more dug in against Trump. Just 28% approve of it versus 66% who don’t, indicating a strong favoring of keeping the swamp filled.
