Democrats To Host Convention in Crime-Ridden Chicago
The Democratic Party has announced that it will hold the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, an area where crime has surged under the party’s control. President Joe Biden informed Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker of his decision, which will take place next year from Aug. 19-22 and accommodate at least 5,000 delegates and alternatives. Senator Tammy Duckworth praised the event for hosting at the United Center, a “union facility.”
Chicago’s voters elected far-left Democratic mayoral candidate Brandon Johnson, a “Defund the Police” advocate who refused to support filling the city’s 1,600 police officer positions. Johnson believes that the city should “go to neighborhoods and provide supports to community, not just with law enforcement.” Current Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot was ousted from her position in February, and the homicide rate has risen by nearly 40% since she took office in 2019, according to watchdog Wirepoints. The county’s district attorney, Kim Foxx, is funded by billionaire George Soros and has been accused of letting violent criminals off easy, while Cook County experienced a 27% decrease in convictions and a 54% increase in dismissed cases, according to the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.
Despite increasing crime, Illinois is ranked second in the country for the number of residents leaving, with one resident leaving the state every 3 minutes and 43 seconds.
