Democrats Who Celebrated Women’s History Month Won’t Define What A Woman Is
Democrats who celebrated and messaged about Women’s History Month or International Women’s Day are unwilling to define what, exactly, a woman is.
The Daily Wire reached out to eighteen United States Democratic congressmen and congresswomen who have messaged about women over the past few weeks. Not one of these lawmakers would define or describe what a woman is.
A woman, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is an “adult female person.” The Oxford English Dictionary slightly defers in its definition of a woman as “an adult female human being.”
Encyclopedia Britannica notes that “individuals having two X chromosomes (XX) are female; individuals having one X chromosome and one Y chromosome (XY) are male.”
The list of Democratic representatives who messaged about women but would not define what a woman is included Susie Lee of Nevada, Mike Levin of California, Marie Newman of Illinois, Sean Casten of Illinois, Chris Pappas of New Hampshire, Lauren Underwood of Illinois, Dina Titus of Nevada, and Tom O’Halleran of Arizona.

For #WomensHistoryMonth I want to thank 3 women in STEM for their history-making, life-saving contributions. Here’s why I’m grateful for Greta Thunberg, Hazel R. O’Leary, and Henrietta Lack. pic.twitter.com/TE1D2EsvHW

Vicente Gonzalez of Texas, Angie Craig of Minnesota, Henry Cuellar of Texas, Abigail Spanberger of Virginia, Jennifer Wexton of Virginia, Kurt Schrader of Oregon, Tom Malinowski of New Jersey, Sharice Davids of Kansas, Kim Schrier of Washington, and Sanford Bishop of Georgia, all of whom messaged about women, also would not define what a woman is.
Yet these lawmakers tweeted remarks such as “we celebrate the achievements of women around the world” or “we must continue to fight for full equality for all women of all ages.”
This #WomensHistoryMonth, I’m proud to highlight Dr. Sylvia Jenkins, President of @morainevalley in Palos Hills.
As the first Black woman to serve as President, Dr. Jenkins has been an outstanding leader, especially during the challenges of COVID. Thank you for all you do! pic.twitter.com/nw7e2vDJdb

Every day, I walk in the footsteps of women who have blazed the trail, allowing me to serve in Congress.
During #WomensHistoryMonth, we recognize their contributions & lift up the female leaders of tomorrow who will shape our country’s history.

Just last week, a Supreme Court justice nominee said on national television that she could not define what a woman is because she is not a biologist — even though she was chosen to be the Supreme Court nominee specifically because she is a black woman.
Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn, the only female Republican to serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, pressed Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson last week to define the word “woman.”
“Can you provide a definition for the word ‘woman’?” Blackburn asked.
“Can I provide a definition?” Jackson repeated.
“Yeah,” Blackburn said, to which Jackson replied, “I can’t.”
“You can’t?” Blackburn asked.
“Not — in this context, I’m not a biologist,” Jackson laughed — a comment that quickly drew fire from her critics, who questioned by a Supreme Court nominee would not be able to define what a woman is.
“So you believe the meaning of the word ‘woman’ is so unclear and controversial that you can’t give me a definition?” Blackburn asked.
“Senator, in my work as a judge, what I do is I address disputes,” Jackson answered. “If there is a dispute about a definition, people make arguments and I look at the law and I decide, so — I’m not —”
“The fact that you can’t give me a straight answer about something as fundamental as what a woman is underscores the dangers of the kind of progressive education that we are hearing about,” Blackburn told the judge.
