Schefter reported also that Sean Payton, a New Orleans Saints player, was signed by the Broncos.
According to the report, even though Payton was not a coach in this year’s season, Denver had the opportunity to negotiate with New Orleans to get him signed. Payton signed an extension in New Orleans for 2019 that would allow him to stay with the team through 2024.
New Orleans will get Denver’s first-round draft pick this year and the team’s second-round pick next year in exchange for Payton and New Orlean’s third-round pick next year.
