Dershowitz rejected Obama’s request to uninvite Geraldo from 75th birthday.
Lawyer Alan Dershowitz Stands Up to Obama, Defends Friendship with Geraldo Rivera
In a surprising revelation, lawyer Alan Dershowitz has shared an intriguing anecdote about former President Barack Obama. According to Dershowitz, Obama refused to attend his 75th birthday celebration in 2013 unless former Fox News contributor Geraldo Rivera was disinvited.
Dershowitz, who famously represented former President Donald Trump during his first impeachment, made this revelation during an episode of “The Charlie Kirk Show.” He discussed his growing alienation from the Democratic Party and the importance of loyalty and friendship.
“For my 75th birthday, President Obama was invited and he said he would come. However, when he found out that Geraldo Rivera was also invited, his office made it clear that he would only attend if Geraldo was disinvited,” Dershowitz explained.
“Being a loyal guy, I stood my ground and told the President that Geraldo Rivera was indeed invited and that he could stay away if he wished. As a result, President Obama chose not to attend my 75th birthday celebration.”
Dershowitz emphasized his belief in loyalty and friendship, stating, “I don’t agree with Geraldo on everything, but he’s my friend. So, of course, I invited him to my 75th birthday, and I will be inviting him to my 85th birthday as well.”
However, Dershowitz’s defense of Trump has come at a cost. He revealed that many of his liberal friends have distanced themselves from him simply because of his association with the former President.
“My former friends on the radical left have gone to great lengths to avoid me. One of them even took a sharp turn and climbed up the dunes to avoid crossing paths with me on the beach. That’s the reality of today,” Dershowitz shared.
Despite facing backlash and being “canceled” by various institutions and communities, including libraries, his synagogue, the community center, and Martha’s Vineyard, Dershowitz remains motivated by his love for the Constitution and America.
When asked why he continues to fight, even though he may not share the same politics as Trump, Dershowitz responded, “My love of the Constitution, my love of America.”
