Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recently criticized District Attorney Alvin Bragg, referring to him as a “Soros-funded prosecutor,” citing Democratic campaign backer George Soros.

DeSantis (R-Fla.), expected to run against Trump for the Republican nominee, accused Bragg of “weaponizing the office” and pursuing a political agenda after reports surfaced that the DA was considering charging former President Donald Trump for hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

“The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor, and so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis further expressed his disapproval of “Soros-funded prosecutors,” arguing that they could conduct high-profile politically-charged cases.

When asked if he would engage in extradition proceedings if Trump refused to travel to New York to face potential criminal charges, DeSantis replied, “We are not involved in this and won’t be involved in this.” He also referred to the possible indictment of Trump as a “manufactured circus.”

Trump’s political team, who had been silent on the potential charges, expressed their disapproval of DeSantis’ lack of comment. After DeSantis’ remarks, Donald J. Trump Jr. tweeted his response.

Trump also criticized DeSantis for not commenting earlier on the potential charges, updating a social media post from the governor’s time as a Georgia school teacher and publishing it on Truth Social.

It has been 20 years since the George W. Bush Administration launched an invasion of Iraq.

Senior counsel for the National Legal and Policy Center, Paul Kamenar, says potential indictment and arrest of former President Trump by Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg would be a clear case of using a misdemeanor charge to fuel a “witch hunt” and “vindictive prosecution.”

Former President Trump could face possible criminal charges in New York relating to alleged hush money payments to Stormy Daniels.
