DeSantis: Blank Check for Ukraine With No Clear Objective Not Acceptable
Florida Governor Ron DeSantisOn a national tour, some suspect that this could be a prelude for a 2024 presidential campaign, and said that the Biden administration is funding Ukraine with money without specifying a clear goal.
These comments were made during an interview on Fox News Channel. “Fox & Friends,” It was the first time the Republican had spoken out in depth about the war on Ukraine. This war, which the Biden administration helped finance with almost $200 billion in aid, marked the beginning of the Republican’s involvement. While he was speaking, President Joe Biden surprised Kyiv by visiting. As the country nears the end of its war against Russia, it will be able to demonstrate U.S. support.
“They have, effectively, a blank-check policy with no clear strategic objective identified,” DeSantis spoke out about the Biden administration.

DeSantis mentioned recent reports by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, that China, which has sent non-lethal military assistance to Russia, might be planning to send weapons. The news comes as tensions between China, the U.S., and Russia are already at boiling point following the launch of a spy balloon by China over the U.S. earlier on this month.
“These things can escalate and I don’t think it’s in our interest to be getting into a proxy war with China getting involved over things like the borderlands, or over Crimea,” DeSantis said. “So I think it would behoove them to identify what is the strategic objective that they’re trying to achieve. But just saying it’s an open-ended, blank check, that is not acceptable.”
DeSantis served as a U.S. House of Representatives member from 2013-2018, before being elected Florida governor in 2018. While there are legitimate concerns that Russia could pose a threat to NATO members, he said it isn’t the military power it was once. While estimates are subject to change, the Chairman of Joints Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley stated last November that Russia lost at most 100,000 soldiers during its long-running war with Ukraine.
“They’ve shown themselves to be a third-rate military power, I think they’ve suffered tremendous, tremendous losses,” He stated. “I’ve got to think the people of Russia are probably disapproving of what’s going on. I don’t think they can speak up about it, for obvious reasons.”
DeSantis stated that China, Russia’s former ally, poses the real threat. China, Beijing also flexed on the U.S. and pledged support for Russia in recent weeks.
“Russia has been really, really wounded here and I don’t think that they are the same threat to our country – even though they are hostile – I don’t think they’re on the same level as China,” DeSantis said.
