Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Raises Record-Breaking Funds for Presidential Campaign

In a stunning display of support, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has surpassed former President Donald Trump’s fundraising achievements. According to recently released data, DeSantis’ campaign raised an impressive $20 million in its first six weeks, outperforming Trump’s first two quarters combined.

“This is the largest first-quarter filing from any non-incumbent Republican candidate in more than a decade,” the DeSantis campaign proudly announced.

Comparatively, Trump’s campaign raised $18.3 million during its first two fundraising quarters as a candidate ($3.8 million in Q4 2022 and $14.5 million in Q1 2023).

It’s important to note that these figures only include donations to each candidate’s individual campaigns and not their allied fundraising committees.

Trump, who had a full 12-week quarter, raised $35 million between his campaign and his leadership political action committee, Save America, this quarter. The recent indictments against Trump by both a Manhattan grand jury and a federal grand jury in Florida likely energized donors. However, the Trump-allied Make America Great Again PAC has yet to release its numbers for this quarter.

Notably, Trump’s campaign experienced a surge in donations following his indictment in Manhattan. In just three days, his campaign raised $7 million, nearly double the amount raised during his first quarter last year after launching his campaign in November. Similarly, Trump raised a similar amount shortly after being indicted on federal charges related to classified information mishandling after leaving office.

The Never Back Down PAC, aligned with DeSantis and launched in Q1 this year, reported an impressive $130 million in funds since its inception on March 9. A significant portion of this sum was transferred from DeSantis’ state political committee.

Generra Peck, DeSantis’ campaign manager, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, stating, “Republicans are excited to invest in a winner ready to lead America’s revival.”
