DeSantis campaign tackles ‘Bidenomics’ in video: ‘Higher costs for all’

EXCLUSIVE: DeSantis Campaign Takes Aim at Biden’s Economic Vision

After President Joe Biden dubbed his economic pitch to voters “Bidenomics” in remarks on Wednesday, Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) presidential campaign is hitting the commander in chief on the state of the economy under his administration.

In a new video exclusively provided to the Washington Examiner, the DeSantis campaign cuts Biden’s speech on his economic vision with clips of newscasters addressing inflation, weekly earnings declines, the housing market, and Biden’s energy plans.

Two Different Americas

First, viewers will hear Biden touting his record, telling voters, “We have a plan that’s turning things around incredibly quickly.” Afterward, an anchor on Fox Business says, “We were initially told inflation would be transitory.”

The video portrays two different Americas: One where the economy is thriving, according to Biden, and one where Americans are struggling with the mounting pressure of inflation.

“I think at the end of the day, the average working person knows it’s harder to make ends meet under Joe Biden as president,” DeSantis tells viewers before the clip concludes.

On Wednesday, the Florida governor appeared on Fox News, taking a shot at Biden’s economic claims.

“I can tell you what Bidenomics is, Martha. It is everybody pays more for basic staples of life. People are paying way more for groceries, they’re paying way more for other necessities like utilities… the cost of buying a new home has gone up dramatically because all the materials have gone up,” he said.

“He is wrong on energy. His vision to not have domestic energy production is going to lead to the average family paying more for energy. It’s going to make them poorer,” DeSantis continued.

In his economic address, Biden said, “Bidenomics is about building the economy from the middle out and bottom-up, not the top down, by making three fundamental changes.”

“First, making smart investments in America. Second, educating and empowering American workers to grow the middle class. And third, promoting competition to lower costs and help small businesses,” he explained.

The president’s tenure has so far been plagued by high inflation, but that didn’t stop him from promoting his administration’s agenda as he heads into the 2024 campaign season.

DeSantis is polling at 19% among potential Republican primary voters, according to Morning Consult. He is second only to former President Donald Trump, who boasts 57%.
