Florida welcomed over 140 million tourists to the Sunshine State last year, setting a new record for the largest number of visitors it has received in a year.

“Once again, Florida leads the nation as an unrivaled destination for tourists,” Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said. “These record-breaking numbers show that our work has made the free state of Florida even more attractive to visitors.”

Florida is continuing to ride the wave this year, as 40.6 million tourists have chosen Florida for their vacations. That is the highest recorded number of tourists in a single quarter.

As many chose Florida to escape the winter weather, Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner said the city experienced the calmest spring break season in years, attributing it to precautions taken to combat rowdy tourists.

In early March, DeSantis cautioned vacationers that they would be held accountable if they created havoc while visiting the state and formed a coalition of law enforcement, which helped keep the peace in places like Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
