DeSantis Kicks Off Foreign Tour With U.S. Allies As He Gears Up For Likely Presidential Run
Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is making waves with his first overseas trip since 2019. He met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Monday to discuss economic matters and strengthen ties between Florida and Japan. The trip is part of an “international trade mission” with Enterprise Florida, an economic development organization that aims to build economic relationships between Florida and other countries like South Korea, Israel, and the United Kingdom.
DeSantis praised Japan’s efforts to bolster its military amid increasing threats from communist China, saying that a strong Japan is good for America and vice versa. He also emphasized the need for the US to invest more in its military to keep up with emerging threats.
After the meeting, DeSantis expressed his support for the US-Japan alliance and his excitement to strengthen the relationship between Japan and Florida. He even took to Twitter to share his thoughts and keep his followers updated.
