DeSantis Pivots To Brand Putin ‘War Criminal’
Comment follows the most political candidate’s description of the war in Ukraine as a” regional debate.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin was referred to as a” war criminal” by Florida governor Ron DeSantis( R.) in an interview on Thursday, setting the expected presidential candidate apart from his statement from last week that downplayed the Ukraine war as” territorial dispute.”
” Clearly, Russia invaded; that was incorrect. DeSantis told Piers Morgan,” They invaded Crimea and took that in 2014, that was wrong. Putin is a combat crime, in my opinion.
Additionally, according to the Republican, Russia is basically” a gas place with a bunch of radioactive arms.”
Republicans, including presidential nominee Nikki Haley and former vice president Mike Pence, who claimed that American support for Ukraine serves the national interest, criticized DeSantis’ comment after the Florida conflict” regional debate” reply.
DeSantis told Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Tonight on March 13 that while the United States has most important national interest, getting involved in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them.
DeSantis informed Morgan that his remarks had” been mischaracterized” and promised to return the stolen land to Ukraine if he could” snap” his” fingers.”
DeSantis told Morgan,” But the truth is what America’s role is in terms of escalating with more weapons, and truly ground imagine I think would be a fault.”
