DeSantis predicts 7-2 SCOTUS majority in next 2 terms.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Plans to Establish a Conservative Supermajority on the Supreme Court

Get ready for some big news! Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is set to announce his 2024 presidential run on Twitter on May 24. But that’s not all he’s been up to lately. In a recent speech at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Orlando, DeSantis revealed his plans to establish a 7-2 conservative supermajority on the U.S. Supreme Court that would last for a quarter-century.

Replacing Conservative Justices

DeSantis believes that over the next two presidential terms, he may be called upon to seek replacements for Justice Clarence Thomas and Justice Samuel Alito. Alito, who is known for his consistent conservative voice on the high court, is 73 years old. Thomas, who follows an even stricter and more literal interpretation of the Constitution, is 74.

DeSantis acknowledges that these two justices are the “gold standard for jurisprudence,” and he wants to ensure that their replacements are as close to that standard as possible. He doesn’t want to see Thomas being replaced with someone like Chief Justice John Roberts, who has become known as the court’s swing vote.

Fortifying Conservative Justices

DeSantis believes that if a two-term Republican president were to find replacements for Roberts and perhaps Justice Sonia Sotomayor, a 68-year-old Obama appointee, it would be possible to fortify justices Alito and Thomas, as well as make improvements with those others.

DeSantis is committed to ensuring that the Supreme Court remains conservative for years to come. He knows that replacing conservative justices with more moderate ones could shift the court to the left, and he won’t let that happen.
