DeSantis: Kamala Harris is Biden’s top impeachment protection.

Gov. Ron DeSantis: Kamala Harris is the Best Impeachment Insurance Money Can Buy

During a campaign event on Thursday, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) made a bold statement about Vice President Kamala Harris, calling her “the best impeachment insurance money can buy” for President Joe Biden. DeSantis, a potential candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential race, expressed his belief that Biden is more favorable than Harris, regardless of his actions.

“When he picked her for VP, a lot of people were like, ‘Oh my, why did he do that?’ because obviously she’s got issues. But I kind of understand why he did it because she’s the best impeachment insurance money can buy. No matter what he does, no one wants Kamala,” DeSantis said.

These remarks come at a time when some Republican members of the House of Representatives are pushing for articles of impeachment against Biden, accusing him of mishandling U.S. border security. Rep. Lauren Boebert’s (R-CO) motion to fast-track a vote on impeachment was referred to the House Homeland Security and Judiciary committees on Thursday, temporarily halting her efforts.

During the campaign event, a voter expressed concern about the number of GOP candidates in the presidential race, fearing it could “fracture the vote” and jeopardize DeSantis’ chances of winning the nomination. In response, the Florida governor humorously referred to Harris as “impeachment insurance.”

DeSantis emphasized that his campaign is focused on winning and delivering results, rather than seeking personal gain or media attention. He expressed his determination to prevent a potential Biden-Harris reelection, stating, “if we muff this one and Biden gets in again, heck, you may end up with Kamala as president even.”

Biden, 80, announced in April that he would seek a second term in 2024. Despite Harris being prominently featured in the video announcing the Biden-Harris reelection bid, her low approval ratings have raised concerns about the popularity gap between the president and vice president.

The Florida governor is scheduled to speak at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., on Friday, followed by visits to Texas and New Hampshire next week. While DeSantis currently ranks second in the GOP presidential primary, former President Donald Trump remains the frontrunner, although recent polls suggest a decline in his support.
