DeSantis changes direction in campaign’s new phase.

Republican Candidate Ron DeSantis Takes‌ on the Media

Republican ⁤presidential candidate Ron DeSantis is shaking ‌things ⁣up and⁣ getting⁤ ready ⁣to face⁣ the⁣ hostile legacy ⁣media head-on. ⁢It‍ seems that his ‍campaign is ‍entering⁤ a new phase, ‌as his ‌poll⁣ numbers have⁤ remained stagnant‌ since he ⁣joined the⁣ race in May.

The ⁢44-year-old ‍Florida governor ⁢is set to appear in a ‍special ‌one-on-one⁣ interview with ⁤CNN’s‍ Jake⁢ Tapper‍ this week,⁣ marking ⁢a‍ significant shift from his⁣ previous stance ⁣of ignoring ⁢interview‌ requests‌ from⁤ liberal outlets.‍ In‌ addition, ‌the campaign recently ⁣let ‌go ‍of around 10 staffers involved in‍ event planning, ‍according ⁤to⁤ a reliable source.

While⁤ some reports suggest that these ⁢staff cuts⁤ indicate financial ⁢difficulties, DeSantis‌ actually ⁣raised‍ more money in ⁢the first ⁣quarter⁤ through his principal⁤ campaign committee than‌ any‍ other candidate, including ‍former President ‍Donald Trump and President‌ Joe Biden. With $12.2 million‍ in cash on ⁢hand, ‌his campaign ⁢ranks third among Republican candidates.

Backing‌ DeSantis is the⁣ Super ⁢PAC Never Back Down,⁤ which‍ plays ⁢a crucial role in‍ his ‍White House ⁤aspirations. ⁢With a staggering⁣ $120 million in⁣ cash and ⁢an ‍expected $200⁣ million in its ‌primary fight, this⁢ Super ‌PAC is leaving no stone ⁣unturned.⁤ The New‍ York Times even ⁢described⁤ their ‌efforts as⁣ “so ⁢big”‌ that they‌ plan‍ to reach‍ out ⁤to ⁣every‌ possible DeSantis⁢ voter ⁤multiple‍ times in ‍key states like ‍New‍ Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina, and Iowa.

After the November midterms, DeSantis emerged as the ‍frontrunner in some ⁣national and state polls. ‍His re-election ⁣as Florida governor ‌with⁤ a 19-point victory set him ⁣apart⁢ from other underperforming⁢ Republican candidates across the ⁣country. However, Trump has‌ since regained his‍ lead⁣ in⁤ the polls, especially⁢ after facing numerous felony‌ charges⁢ brought against him ⁢by ⁣Manhattan ⁤District⁤ Attorney⁢ Alvin ⁣Bragg. Trump’s Super PAC ‌has also spent ‌over‍ $20 million ⁢on ads ‌attacking⁢ DeSantis,‍ surpassing the amount spent on ‌all the Republican⁣ candidates⁢ it‍ supported ⁣in⁢ the midterms combined.

Despite⁤ these ⁢challenges, the ⁤DeSantis ‍campaign remains optimistic. ‌They ‌believe ‌that the upcoming⁢ primary debates will be⁢ a ‍turning point, expecting‌ the polls‌ to shift in ⁣their⁣ favor. ⁢Interestingly,‍ Trump has indicated ⁣that ⁤he will not ‌participate in these debates.
