A new national poll showed 45th President Donald Trump expanding his lead over the competition in the GOP presidential field.
Trump saw his support jump to 53.3% in the Republican primary, according to a new Cygnal poll. Vivek Ramaswamy overtook Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for second place with 11%. DeSantis was at 10%.
“DeSantis has plummeted from having 29% of the vote in March,” the poll read.
Numerous other polls have shown Trump gaining ground and further distancing himself from DeSantis in early nominating states. A new J.L. Partners poll revealed that the 45th president held a 26% advantage over DeSantis in Iowa. DeSantis has seen his numbers dip by nine points since April.
A new poll by the New Hampshire Journal showed Trump holding a 34% lead in the Granite State. DeSantis and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie were tied for second place with 9% each.
Further, Trump holds a 39.1% lead over DeSantis for the Republican nomination, according to RealClearPolitics polling average.
With momentum at his back, Trump is set to visit the Iowa State Fair this weekend with Florida Congress members who endorsed him over DeSantis.
