DeSantis lashes out at reporter: ‘Can’t you see?’
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Asks Reporter if He’s “Blind” for Asking About Voter Questions
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who recently announced his presidential candidacy, had a heated exchange with a reporter who asked why he wasn’t taking questions from voters. The incident occurred at DeSantis’ first New Hampshire campaign event, where he was surrounded by members of the crowd.
“Are you blind?”
– Ron DeSantis
The reporter, Steve Peoples of The Associated Press, was repeatedly asked if he was “blind” by DeSantis, who was visibly agitated. Video footage of the incident was uploaded to Twitter, showing DeSantis finishing taking a photo with an attendee before responding sharply to Peoples.
“People are coming up to me, talking to me. What are you talking about? … Are you blind? Are you blind? People are coming up to me, talking to me [about] whatever they want to talk to me about.”
– Ron DeSantis
According to NBC, DeSantis did not take questions from his lectern, but instead answered questions from members of the audience. His press secretary, Bryan Griffin, addressed the incident by accusing the media of pushing their own narrative.
“This @AP reporter asked this question while @RonDeSantis was surrounded by voters in New Hampshire asking him questions and taking pictures. Perfectly illustrative of the modern media shutting their eyes and ears to the truth to push their narrative.”

DeSantis’ Presidential Candidacy
DeSantis officially announced his White House run on May 24, raising $1 million for his campaign in the first hour of his candidacy. His press secretary, Griffin, boasted about the enthusiasm for DeSantis’ vision for the “Great American Comeback.”
“There was so much enthusiasm for Governor DeSantis’ vision for our Great American Comeback that he literally busted up the internet. Washington is next. $1 million raised online in one hour … and counting!”
– Bryan Griffin
DeSantis filed the notification of his campaign with the Federal Election Commission just hours before making his announcement on Twitter Spaces. However, just two days before his announcement, news broke that a college student who tracks Elon Musk’s private jet on Twitter started tracking DeSantis’ plane.
