DeSantis Super PAC redirects resources, halts voter canvassing in 4 states.
A Super PAC Backing Ron DeSantis’s 2024 Presidential Run Shifts Focus to Early-Voting States
A super PAC supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s bid for the White House in 2024 has announced a change in strategy. The PAC, called Never Back Down, has decided to pause voter canvassing efforts in four states and redirect resources to three early-voting states.
The states where door-knocking operations will be suspended are Nevada, California, Texas, and North Carolina. Instead, the PAC will be investing its field resources in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, which are crucial early-voting states.

“We want to reinvest in the first three, we see real opportunities,” said PAC spokeswoman Erin Perrine. She emphasized the importance of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina in setting the conditions for the later primary states.
California, North Carolina, and Texas hold their primaries in March 2024, according to the GOP primary calendar. Nevada, on the other hand, holds its primary in February as an early-voting state. However, Nevada’s situation is described as volatile due to the state Republican Party’s plan to hold its own party-run presidential caucus alongside the statewide primary.
“When you have that kind of uncertainty about how the election’s going to be conducted, that becomes a pretty unstable environment to be investing the kind of resources that we’re investing,” explained Perrine. She added that Nevada is heading towards a lawsuit.
Turbulence in California and Nevada
In Nevada, Republicans are determined to hold their own caucus despite a new state law calling for a primary election. This decision has raised concerns about confusing voters, as the party-run caucus will determine which candidate receives the state’s delegates, potentially overshadowing the Republican primary.
Similarly, California has faced a similar situation where grassroots involvement has been made impossible. Changes to delegate rules have been criticized for favoring President Trump and limiting competition among Republican presidential candidates.
Never Back Down’s Perrine stated, ”With neither state having a fair process, the door knockers that were in Nevada and California, we decided to make them kind of refocus into the first three.”
California GOP Chairwoman Jessica Patterson, however, argued that the new rules would encourage candidates to campaign extensively and present their proposals to a broader range of voters.
‘Scam’ PAC Closes
In other news, Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign welcomed the closure of the Ron to the Rescue super PAC, which they referred to as a “scam.” The campaign’s communications director, Andrew Romeo, stated, “We’ve made clear from the beginning that this was a scam PAC looking to grift off Ron DeSantis, and it comes as welcome news they are no longer attempting to fleece our donors.”
