A New Movement: South Carolina Parents Never Back Down Coalition
A super PAC affiliated with Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) presidential campaign has made an exciting announcement. Never Back Down, the organization behind DeSantis’s campaign, has launched the South Carolina Parents Never Back Down coalition. This coalition is part of a nationwide movement to rally parents in support of DeSantis’s 2024 campaign.
The Palmetto State, one of the four early nominating states, is the third location to witness the launch of this coalition, following Virginia and New Hampshire. With six leaders and 100 members spread throughout the state, the South Carolina Parents Never Back Down coalition is ready to make a powerful impact.
Leaders Committed to Change
The coalition boasts an impressive lineup of leaders. Jennifer Black, the Greenville chairwoman, believes that DeSantis’s strong leadership during challenging times sets him apart. She emphasizes his unwavering support for parents in making decisions for their children’s education and well-being. Black states, “I want a leader that will walk alongside parents and never back down from what is right for our country, our rights, and our families, and Governor DeSantis has demonstrated that leadership.”
Joining Black are Duffy Lewis as the Charleston leader, Brenda Stewart as the Clinton chairwoman, Lauren Green as the Fort Mill chairwoman, Kellie Bates as the North Charleston chairwoman, and Britney Mahoney as the Summerville chairwoman.
A Movement Gaining Momentum
The Parents Never Back Down coalition was first launched in Virginia, with 10 chairpeople and 100 members. DeSantis has long positioned himself as the candidate who champions parental rights, and this movement has gained traction across the nation. With growing concerns over how race, gender, and sexuality are taught in public schools, parents have become a crucial constituency for DeSantis to win over in his quest for the Republican presidential nomination.
DeSantis has actively supported legislation that empowers parents in public schools. Notably, he signed the Parental Rights in Education bill into law, which restricts classroom instructions on gender and sexual orientation for students up to third grade.
Florida first lady Casey DeSantis has also launched her own initiative, Mamas for DeSantis, which aims to mobilize mothers and grandmothers in support of the governor’s campaign. This initiative seeks to bring disaffected suburban women voters back into the Republican fold.
The South Carolina coalition announcement coincides with the release of a new ad by Never Back Down titled “Stone Cold Dead.” This ad highlights DeSantis’s plan to secure the southern border and will be aired in Iowa and New Hampshire this week.
With the South Carolina Parents Never Back Down coalition gaining momentum, DeSantis’s campaign is poised to make a lasting impact on the national stage.
