DeSantis suspends Soros-backed attorney for neglecting duty to prosecute violent criminals.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis suspends Democrat state attorney backed by leftist billionaire George Soros
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis took action on Wednesday by suspending a Democrat state attorney who was supported by billionaire George Soros. The governor accused her of failing to prosecute violent crime in her jurisdiction. DeSantis emphasized the importance of upholding the law and ensuring justice for the people of Central Florida.
According to the governor’s executive order, State Attorney Monique Worrell of the 9th Judicial Circuit, a Democrat with jurisdiction over Orlando, is facing suspension for enabling practices that allow violent offenders, drug traffickers, serious juvenile offenders, and pedophiles to evade incarceration. DeSantis specifically pointed out Worrell’s tendency to avoid minimum mandatory sentences for gun-related crimes.
During her 2020 primary election campaign, Worrell received significant support from a political committee affiliated with Soros, which spent $1.5 million on ads. This raised concerns about her impartiality and commitment to enforcing the law.
DeSantis’ order highlighted the potential risks posed by Worrell’s leniency towards criminals, stating that it puts the residents of Orange and Osceola Counties at increased risk of harm. This is the second time DeSantis has removed a prosecutor for failing to enforce the law, demonstrating his commitment to upholding the will of the people.
