DeSantis to headline ‘record-breaking’ fundraiser in New Hampshire debut
MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida is set to headline the largest annual Republican Party fundraising gala in New Hampshire. Fundraising for the Amos Tuck Dinner event has been unusually successful, according to Chairman Chris Ager, though exact amounts have not been disclosed. Many of DeSantis’s rivals in the key early state have gained ground, giving high stakes for the governor heading into his speech.
DeSantis has made several speeches across the country, delivering speeches in states such as Iowa, Michigan, Ohio, and others. While New Hampshire was not initially part of his itinerary, his upcoming speech has generated widespread interest from eager supporters. With a formal primary election following the Iowa caucuses, New Hampshire voters scrutinize candidates relentlessly, and DeSantis has been considered the most likely alternative for Republican voters disillusioned with former President Donald Trump.
Florida’s “resign or run” law has hindered DeSantis’s early plans for a presidential campaign launch, but it is expected to be revised by the legislature in the coming weeks. After the legislative session wraps up, DeSantis is expected to announce his 2024 intentions.
Following his New Hampshire appearance, DeSantis will head to Spartanburg, South Carolina for another public event. He also has trips planned to other key states, as well as an international trip to Israel.
