Diane Feinstein Headed Towards an Unceremonious Exit
A California The political juggernaut appears on the verge of an unceremonious departure.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D) represented the Golden State in Washington, D.C. for 30 years. She was considered untouchable. Barbara Boxer and her became the first female senators from California after they were elected together in 1992. But time has not been kind to Feinstein, who, though she hasn’t announced her retirement, has watched her party turn up the heat as they push her out the door.
DEMOCRATS ARE NOT WALKING FOR FEINSTEIN IN CALIFORNIA SENATE RACE
“God bless her,” Garry South is a Democratic strategist from California Telled Politico. “But the most pathetic part of politics is when somebody doesn’t know when it’s time to leave.”
Feinstein is under attack aren’t new. California Democratic Party, which was last up for reelection. wouldn’t endorse her. It didn’t matter, as the popular Democrat won almost 3 million votes in the primary and went on to beat Democratic challenger Kevin de Leon by roughly 1 million votes.
Feinstein was a reliable Democratic vote in Senate and voted to imprison the then-President Donald Trump In both of his impeachment trial, and supported President Joe Biden’s Signature Inflation Reduction Acts and American Rescue Plan Acts.
She was depicted as an anti-torture and anti-bush hero in 2019, The Report.
But her liberal track record hasn’t been enough to stem the tide pulling the Democratic PartyCalifornia and California in particular to the left.
At 89 years old, Feinstein is the oldest senator and longest-serving. Ambitious Democrats, however, can see the potential for bloodshed in the political waters and are eager to capitalize on it.
“She’s still the state’s senior senator,” According to a long-time Democratic strategist in California, the outlet was informed by him. “And they’re dancing on her [political] grave.”
Rep. Katie Porter (D–CA), a rising liberal star The contest was opened for Feinstein’s still-occupied seat days after the calendar flipped to January, saying the state needed a “warrior in the Senate.”
Weeks later, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), also followed. After Speaker, Schiff was left feeling weak in the House. Kevin McCarthy (R. CA) removed him from the prestigious House Intelligence Committee. But it was rumored that he had been thinking about making the jump prior to he collided the new Republican majority.
Feinstein will have to contend with two motivated, energetic candidates if she is interested in running again. Not only does Feinstein have her age counting against her — Schiff is 62 and Porter is 49 — but her job approval rating has been in decline.
A Berkeley IGS Poll from roughly a year ago marked Feinstein’s job approval rating at 30% — an all-time low for her. Another poll in October showed that Feinstein had regained support from voters but was still struggling with making most people happy. She received a 41% approval rating.
At the same time her star is falling with voters, she’s also struggling to get them to Open their bank accounts.
Feinstein’s war chest is less than $10,000, and it has raised just $600 over the past three months.
Porter and Schiff have $21 million each, while Porter has roughly $7.4 millions.
The fact that some of Feinstein’s money is coming in may be an accident.
