NASCAR faces boycott threats over controversial tweet resembling Bud Light’s slogan.
NASCAR Shows Support for LGBT Pride Month, Receives Backlash
In a tweet this week, NASCAR expressed its support for the LGBTQ+ community during Pride Month and beyond. However, this move towards inclusivity has not been well-received by some fans.

While NASCAR has been moving towards a more corporate image, with mainstream business logos appearing on drivers’ uniforms and cars, some fans long for the days of quaint garages and performance auto parts brands. They argue that NASCAR should not be bowing to what they see as a sinful and destructive behavior.
However, NASCAR President Steve Phelps has stated that the organization wants to be more welcoming and inclusive to the LGBTQ+ community, as well as racial minorities and women.
Despite this, the recent tweet has received intense negative feedback from some fans, with some even threatening to boycott the sport.

Did NASCAR Just ‘Bud Light’ Itself? Fans Threaten to Boycott After What Org Posts on Twitter
NASCAR has recently faced backlash from fans after posting a tweet in support of Pride Month. Fans were quick to express their disappointment and some even threatened to boycott the organization. This move comes as NASCAR plans to introduce electric car racing, according to Inside EVs.
“Turn off the lights, I’m out. #boycottNASCAR,” one Twitter user wrote in response to the tweet.
While NASCAR’s decision to support Pride Month may be seen as a reflection of poor judgment, it is not the same as rebelling against moral standards that have been in place for thousands of years. However, it remains to be seen how this will affect the organization’s relationship with its fans.
What Fans Are Saying
- “I’m done with NASCAR. I’m not watching a sport that supports this,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
- “I’m sorry NASCAR, but this is not what we want to see. We want to see racing, not politics,” another fan tweeted.
- “I’m not a fan of this. I’m not against the LGBTQ community, but I don’t think this is something that should be promoted in NASCAR,” a third fan commented.
It remains to be seen how NASCAR will respond to the backlash from its fans, but it is clear that the organization will need to tread carefully in the future.
