Disney World witnesses unexpected decline in attendance during July 4 holiday as fans abandon ship.
Disney World Faces Unprecedented Challenge as Attendance Drops
Disney World, known for its sold-out tickets and bustling crowds, is now grappling with a new obstacle – low attendance.
According to travel analysts and advisers, Disney’s theme parks in the U.S. have encountered several issues in recent months.
In an effort to attract new customers amidst the dwindling crowds, Disney is offering hotel discounts during the typically busy Christmas season this year.
Experts believe that Disney’s price hikes and park modifications have deterred families from visiting, resulting in the decline in attendance, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
During the Independence Day weekend, a data-tracking company recorded Disney’s lowest crowd turnout in a decade.
According to Thrill Data, the average wait time for all of Disney’s theme parks from July 1-4 this year was around 21-23 minutes, a 16-minute drop compared to last year.
Disney’s Magic Kingdom experienced its lowest wait times during Independence Day in years, with an average wait time of 27 minutes on Tuesday, compared to 31 minutes last year and 47 minutes in 2019.
Touring Plans described this as the “third-slowest day” in the past year.
“It’s something that nobody would have predicted – just unfathomable,” said a computer analyst to the Wall Street Journal.
According to the Journal, Disney and its competitors can manipulate wait times for rides to guide visitors towards or away from certain areas within the parks.
Former Disney finance chief Christine McCarthy acknowledged that the company anticipated lower crowd turnouts for its U.S. parks following the conclusion of Disney World’s 50th anniversary celebration.
Disney enthusiasts expressed their surprise at the shorter lines in the theme park.
Jaime Brown, a Walt Disney World annual pass holder, visited the resort three times during the Independence Day weekend and was amazed by the reduced crowds.
“I couldn’t believe how light the crowds were,” Brown said, noting that Disney was much busier during the summer of 2021.
However, since 2021, Disney has embraced a more “woke” approach, which some believe has contributed to the decline in visitors.
Disney challenged Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Parental Rights in Education Act, which prohibited lessons on “sexual orientation or gender identity” for children under 10 years old.
Additionally, Disney incorporated woke messages and characters representing the LGBT community in its films.
However, this decision has resulted in a loss of over $900 million for the company across its last eight films, as reported by the U.K. Daily Mail.
Disney Shareholders absolutely dumbfounded by massive drop in movie sales & theme park tourists.
It’s almost as if parents don’t wish to expose their kids to a perverse woke groomer corporation……
