Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger was bestowed knighthood on Tuesday, making him the latest person to receive the honor in the United Kingdom.

Iger, 73, was given the title of Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire on Tuesday, with Prince William leading the ceremony. Iger’s receiving the honor was announced in September 2022, making him one of the last to receive the title before Queen Elizabeth II died that month.

“Today at Windsor Castle, Bob received an honorary Knight of the Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) presented by William, Prince of Wales,” read a post from Willow Bay, Iger’s wife. “Truly an incredible experience and a proud family moment.”

Iger had expressed his thanks for the queen and the U.K. when he revealed he had the title conferred to him prior to her death, calling the knighthood “one of the great honors of my life.”

It is one of the great honors of my life to have the honorary Knight of the British Empire conferred on me by Queen Elizabeth II before she passed. I have great affection for the people of the UK & have always appreciated and been inspired by their extraordinary contributions.

On Wednesday, Disney announced it would invest $17 billion into its Walt Disney World resort in Florida, which would pave the way for a fifth theme park. The announcement comes shortly after the company’s two-year feud with the Sunshine State ended in March after the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board reached and agreed to a settlement with Disney to resolve their litigation.
