‘Do Not Support’: Biden Official Reaffirms Taiwan Policy Ahead Of Pelosi Trip
White House Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council John Kirby reiterated U.S. government policy towards Taiwan in a press conference Aug. 1 ahead of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to the country.
“We have repeatedly said that we oppose any unilateral changes to the status quo from either side,” Kirby said. “We have said that we do not support Taiwan independence. And we have said that we expect cross-Strait differences to be resolved by peaceful means. We have communicated this directly.”
