Donald Trump indicted; campaign accuses Willis family of ‘hateful’ ties.
Former President Donald Trump’s Presidential Campaign Attacks Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s Family
In a shocking turn of events, former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has launched a scathing attack on Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’s family. This comes after Willis indicted Trump on charges related to his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia.
The campaign sent an email to its supporters, accusing Willis of coming from a family “steeped in hate” due to her parent’s involvement with the Black Panther movement. The email even referenced an article from Time, and the Fulton County website confirmed her family’s background with the political group from the 1960s.
Donald Trump Indicted: Three Things the Georgia Indictment Reveals About Former President’s Future
The government website sheds light on Willis’s proud African-American heritage, stating, “As what can now be considered a conscious foreshadowing to her future endeavors, she describes her Swahili name’s intended meaning, saying: ‘My name is actually Fani (fah-nee), Taifa is my middle name, and my last name is Willis. So, my father was a Black Panther, so he was very Afrocentric… my name is Swahili. Fani actually means ‘prosperous,’ and Taifa means ‘people.'”
Furthermore, the former president’s campaign has labeled Willis as a “rabid partisan” who deliberately delayed her charges against Trump to inflict maximum damage on his reputation.
“Fulton County, GA’s radical Democrat District Attorney Fani Willis is a rabid partisan who is campaigning and fundraising on a platform of prosecuting President Trump through these bogus indictments,” the campaign stated. “Ripping a page from Crooked Joe Biden’s playbook, Willis has strategically stalled her investigation to try and maximally interfere with the 2024 presidential race and damage the dominant Trump campaign.”
The campaign’s statement continued, “The timing of this latest coordinated strike by a biased prosecutor in an overwhelmingly Democrat jurisdiction not only betrays the trust of the American people but also exposes the true motivation driving their fabricated accusations.”
Despite the onslaught of attacks, Willis remains undeterred. She has instructed her staff to refrain from responding and to let the facts speak for themselves.
In a shocking development, former President Trump, along with his lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman, has been named among 19 individuals in a 41-count indictment released just before midnight on Monday. The indictment accuses the defendants of conspiring to conduct and participate in a “criminal enterprise” following Trump’s loss in the 2020 election in Georgia.
Trump himself faces 13 counts, including racketeering charges, in the grand jury indictment from Fulton County.
This latest indictment marks Trump’s fifth and comes as his fourth criminal case. In a separate case, special counsel Jack Smith released a superseding indictment in his federal investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents.
The late-night proceedings included arrest warrants for the charged individuals, but Willis has given Trump and his associates until August 25th to turn themselves in. It is expected that Trump will plead “not guilty.”
