Donalds alleges Biden ‘family’ is behind ‘crazy’ honoring of George Soros – Washington Examiner
President Joe Biden recently awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to a diverse group of individuals, which included controversial figures like George Soros and Hillary Clinton. This decision has sparked significant backlash, particularly among Republicans and conservative commentators.
Elon musk criticized the move on social media, labeling it a “travesty.” He expressed his disapproval of honoring Soros, a billionaire and major Democratic donor, with the highest civilian award in the U.S. Musk’s comments reflect broader sentiments shared by many who oppose the recognition of individuals associated with contentious political activities or views.
Republican Representative Byron Donalds voiced his concerns as well, suggesting that the decision to honor Soros may not have been solely under Biden’s control but influenced by his staff and family members. He indicated that such decisions are indicative of internal influences within the Biden governance, highlighting a sense of frustration among some lawmakers regarding the President’s choices just weeks before leaving office.
the awarding of the Medal of Freedom to Soros and others has fueled public discourse, igniting debates on political favoritism and the criteria for such high honors.
Donalds alleges Biden ‘family’ is behind ‘crazy’ honoring of George Soros
Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) argued that the decision to give Democratic mega-donor George Soros the Presidential Medal of Freedom was not solely made by President Joe Biden, and suggested it was largely made by the president’s staff and even a few of his family members.
Soros was one of 19 people to receive the nation’s highest civilian honor on Saturday, which Biden distributed just over two weeks before he leaves the White House. The president’s honoring of Soros has been slammed by many Republicans, with Donalds calling it “crazy” and citing how Soros is “on the absolute-left” of politics in the United States.
“So for Joe Biden and his team — and I stress ‘and his team’ because, let’s be honest, Maria, do we really know what Joe Biden is thinking from day-to-day?” Donalds said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. “We simply do not, and it’s a tragedy for our country. And that’s not to play politics, it’s actually sad to see what’s happened to him from a health perspective over these years. But this is his staff and, frankly, a part of his family that are managing all this stuff from behind the scenes.”
Donalds concluded that Biden and the Democrats are using their last few days in power to reward their allies, which he said “makes no sense at all” but that it counters how President-elect Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers are focused on “the American people.”
Soros, 94, is the founder of Open Society Foundations, a nonprofit organization that has financially supported Black Lives Matter and its allies in the pro-defund-the-police movement.
Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley expressed similar criticism over Biden’s honoring of Soros, calling it “another slap in the face of America” after Biden issued a massive pardon to his son, Hunter Biden, last month. She concluded that Jan. 20, the day Trump will return to the White House, “can’t come soon enough.”
Besides Soros, former 2016 Democratic presidential candidate and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton was also honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
