A Downey Man Pleads Guilty to Selling Fentanyl-Laced Pills, Resulting in Teen’s Death
A shocking case unfolded as a Downey man, Jonathan Limas-Reyes, pleaded guilty on Aug. 11 to a federal charge involving the sale of fentanyl-laced prescription pills. Tragically, these pills caused the untimely death of a 17-year-old girl.
In a plea agreement filed in Los Angeles federal court, Mr. Limas-Reyes admitted to selling the deadly pills to the young victim on Oct. 29, 2021. The consequences were devastating, as the use of these pills resulted in the death and serious bodily injury of the victim, identified as A.K.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office revealed that Mr. Limas-Reyes entered a guilty plea to a felony charge of distribution of fentanyl, which carries a maximum prison sentence of up to 20 years. A sentencing date of Dec. 15 has been set, and court papers indicate that Mr. Limas-Reyes has agreed not to oppose a term of imprisonment of 14 years.
