As the old proverb goes, “Clothes make the man.” While some may argue that judging others based on their appearance is shallow, it is still the standard expectation that those in positions of authority present themselves professionally while carrying out their duties. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman’s recent appearance at a news conference.”>news conference dressed in a baggy hoodie, shorts, and sneakers did not meet this expectation.

Fetterman’s Appearance Undermined the Event

On Thursday, Fetterman’s handlers allowed him to participate in a news conference on debt ceiling negotiations with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and other Democratic senators. However, Fetterman’s inappropriate appearance and faltering speech during the event overshadowed the Democrat narrative. His sloppiness undermined the tone of the entire event.
