Drew’s Receipts: Media Defends Biden, Except for One Bombshell.
Checking in on the Media This Week
Happy Saturday! Let’s dive into the latest news from the media this week.
Where’s Hunter?
Hunter Biden’s journey to the underside of the bus has accelerated this week. He faces federal indictment and President Joe Biden is now under an impeachment inquiry. The media is finally acknowledging Hunter Biden’s criminality and corruption, but they insist that it cannot be tied to the president.

News outlets, driven by a White House memo demanding critical coverage of the GOP’s impeachment inquiry, continue to report that there is no evidence linking Joe Biden to his son’s influence peddling.
NBC News states, “The administration rebutted seven Republican claims and called the impeachment inquiry ‘all politics and no evidence.’ … [House Speaker Kevin] McCarthy does not appear to have the full support of his party and has faced criticism for the lack of evidence in GOP allegations of the president’s wrongdoings.”
CNN reports, “While news organizations have published fact checks on the matter, they have also often failed to call out the mis- and disinformation peddled by Republicans in their coverage, frustrating officials in the Biden White House who believe that the news media should be doing more to dispel lies that saturate the public discourse. … The Republican House-led investigations into Biden have yet to provide any direct evidence that the president financially benefited from [his son] Hunter Biden’s career overseas.”
Associated Press states, ”The White House has said that Joe Biden was not involved in his son’s business affairs. And so far, despite months of investigations, Republicans have unearthed no significant evidence of wrongdoing by the elder Biden, who spoke often to his son and as vice president did stop by a business dinner with his son’s associates. Hunter Biden is not a public figure.”
However, Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter Biden’s business dealings is being investigated as part of the impeachment inquiry.
Fact Checking the Fact Checkers
During a speech in Alaska, Biden claimed to have been at ground zero the day after the Sept. 11 attacks. However, fact-checkers have found that he actually visited the site over a week later. The media largely ignored this false claim.
CNN’s Daniel Dale did fact check Biden for this false story, but many other news outlets omitted any mention of Biden’s falsehood.
Elder Abuse
The Washington Post’s David Ignatius wrote a column suggesting that President Biden should not run again in 2024. Ignatius argues that Biden’s age and Vice President Kamala Harris’s lack of popularity would make her the focus of the campaign.
Ignatius’s column was discussed on CNN and MSNBC, sparking a debate about Biden’s potential running mate.
This is Fine
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s suspension of Second Amendment rights in response to gun violence received little scrutiny from the media initially. However, even unlikely defenders of gun rights questioned the constitutionality of the governor’s ban, leading journalists to ask more questions.
There was still little substantive scrutiny of the executive order, unlike the thorough line-by-line takedowns regularly directed at controversial Republican policies.
Gold Nugget
A liberal journalist discovered that “book bans” might have a point after reading a controversial sex-ed book for children. This revelation prompted further discussion on the topic.
Senator John Kennedy also shocked the Senate by reading explicit passages from LGBT young adult books during a hearing on “book bans.”
That’s all for this week. Stay safe and see you next time!
Has Hunter Biden’s involvement in business dealings in multiple countries been thoroughly investigated?
Number of countries where Hunter Biden had business dealings.”
In light of these media reports, it is clear that there is a narrative being pushed by the mainstream media that absolves President Joe Biden of any wrongdoing in relation to Hunter Biden’s activities. The question that arises is whether this narrative is justified or whether it is simply an attempt to protect the president and his administration.
It is worth examining the evidence that has been presented thus far. The allegations against Hunter Biden include his involvement in shady business dealings in Ukraine and China, where he allegedly used his father’s position as vice president to secure lucrative contracts. These allegations have been supported by documents and testimonies from former business associates, as well as emails retrieved from Hunter Biden’s laptop.
While it is true that there is no direct evidence linking Joe Biden to these activities, it is also important to note that there is a lack of thorough investigation into the matter. The media has largely ignored or downplayed these allegations, with many news outlets dismissing them as baseless or part of a political smear campaign. This raises questions about the impartiality and integrity of the media in their coverage of this issue.
The media’s role is to objectively report the news and hold those in power accountable, regardless of their political affiliation. It is concerning to see a lack of scrutiny and critical analysis when it comes to the actions of President Joe Biden and his family. The media should be asking tough questions and demanding transparency, rather than simply dismissing or ignoring allegations that may be uncomfortable or inconvenient.
Furthermore, the media’s approach to covering this issue raises concerns about their credibility and trustworthiness. By selectively reporting and shaping the narrative to protect President Biden, the media risks losing the trust of the public. Journalism is meant to be a profession of integrity and objectivity, and it is important for the media to uphold these principles in its coverage.
In conclusion, it is clear from this week’s media coverage that there is a concerted effort to protect President Joe Biden and his administration from scrutiny and accountability. The media’s failure to thoroughly investigate the allegations against Hunter Biden and their dismissal of the issue as baseless or politically motivated is concerning. It is essential for the media to fulfill its role as the fourth estate and hold those in power accountable, regardless of their political affiliation. Only through unbiased and objective reporting can we ensure transparency and uphold the principles of democracy.
