Dwyane Wade Blamed LGBTQ Policies For Leaving Florida — That’s Not What He Said 4 Years Ago
Dwyane Wade Clarifies Reason for Leaving Florida
Former NBA player Dwyane Wade recently made headlines when he claimed that his family left Florida over LGBTQ policies implemented by Governor Ron DeSantis. However, Wade’s reasoning for leaving the state in 2019 was quite different. At the time, he had retired from the NBA, and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, had a job in Los Angeles.
Family Comes First
Wade has always put his family first, and his decision to move to Los Angeles was no exception. In a 2020 interview with People Magazine, he stated, “My home is where my family is.” This sentiment was echoed in his recent comments about Florida’s policies, where he stated that his family would not feel comfortable in the state.
Public Battles
Wade has also been in the public eye due to his battles with his ex-wife over their shared child’s gender identity. Despite allegations that he embraced the change for financial gain, Wade has denied these claims and continues to support his child’s identity.
