With 10.8 million followers on TikTok and 1.8 million followers on Instagram, Dylan Mulvaney is a well-known influencer who recently found themselves at the center of a controversy involving Bud Light. Mulvaney, who identifies as transgender, took to social media to address their fans for the first time since the controversy erupted.

Mulvaney explained that they had been “offline for a few weeks” due to the controversy. In a video posted on both TikTok and Instagram, Mulvaney addressed the accusations and criticism they had received.
Standing Up for Themselves
“A lot has been said about me,” Mulvaney said in the clip. “Some of which is so far from my truth that I was hearing my name and I didn’t know who they were talking about sometimes. It was so loud that I didn’t even feel part of the conversation so I decided to take the backseat.”
Mulvaney went on to say that being called “too feminine and over the top” reminded them of being teased during childhood. “But this time it’s from other adults,” Mulvaney said. “And if they’re going to accuse me of anything it should be that I’m a theater person and that I’m camp. But this is just my personality and it always has been.”
Spreading Love and Positivity
Mulvaney also spoke about the need to be kind and compassionate towards others. “What I’m struggling to understand is the need to dehumanize and to be cruel. Dehumanization has never fixed anything in history,” the influencer said.
