Eagles Lineman Indicted For Rape, Kidnapping — Just Days Ahead Of Super Bowl

Philadelphia Eagles Josh Sills, offensive tackle, was indicted on kidnapping and rape charges less than two weeks before he was to play in Super Bowl LVII. Kansas City Chiefs.

According to a Report from entertainment site TMZ, Sills, 25, was indicted pursuant to an incident that dates back to December of 2019 in Guernsey County, Ohio — in which prosecutors allege that he “engaged in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will.”

Count one of the indictment reads as follows: “Joshua Matthew Sills, on or about the 5th day of December, 2019, in the county of Guernsey aforesaid, did engage in sexual conduct with M.M. when Joshua Matthew Sills purposely compelled her to submit by force or threat of force in violation of Ohio Revised Code §2907.02(A)(2), 2907.02(B), Rape, a felony of the first degree.”

And count two: “Joshua Matthew Sills, on or about the 5th day of December, 2019, in the county of Guernsey aforesaid, did, by force threat, or deception, remove M.M. from the place where she was found or restrain the liberty of her for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a felony, to wit: Rape, O.R.C 2907.02 or flight thereafter in violation of Ohio Revised Code §2905.01(C)(1), kidnapping, a felony of the first degree.”

A grand jury indicted Sills earlier this week and the case will be handled by the Special Prosecutions Section of the Attorney General’s Office.

Sills was ordered to appear at the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16.

The rookie offensive lineman came to the Eagles for the 2022 season as an undrafted free agent, and he played in one regular season game — appearing in just four snaps on special teams for the Eagles in game against the Arizona Cardinals. The Ohio native previously played college football for Oklahoma State University.
