(The Center Square) – In North Carolina’s U.S. House District 11, Democrat Caleb Rudow is hoping to stop Republican U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards from gaining a second term.

Republicans have held the seat since flipping the long-time Democratic district in 2010. Edwards is favored.

Yet, in the last few elections, Democrats have been slowly narrowing the Republican’s win margin. In 2022, Edwards won by 30,000 votes, compared to the Republican’s win in 2016 of over 100,000 votes.

Edwards is running on his record, saying “hard work, real solutions, and action” are the keys to bringing “western North Carolina values and solutions to D.C.”

“As a first-term U.S. congressman, I steadily gained recognition among my House peers for my ability to apply business acumen and mountain values to issues, being continually appointed to committee assignments that allowed me to positively impact the lives of those in the NC-11th Congressional District,” he said. “As your U.S. congressman, I will continue to expand that impact to all Americans!”

Rudow says a change is necessary and that the district “deserves a representative who will work for working families.”

His priorities include “universal access to health care,” stopping “government overreach,” and conserving “our environment.”

Rudow serves as a state representative in North Carolina House District 116.

“From the beginning, this campaign has been about showing western North Carolina another path forward,” he said on social media. “Let’s keep fighting for better representation of our values, up and down the ballot!”

Edwards’ priorities include closing the border, reforming Washington, and ending “Bidenomics.”

Edwards has seen significant funding behind his campaign, with him bringing in $1.1 million dollars. Rudow raised just $330,000 since the beginning of the year. Edwards had just over $100,000 more than Rudow in the bank to start the third quarter.
