Election history to be made as most will vote early – Washington Examiner
The article discusses a significant trend in the upcoming elections, indicating that for the first time in history, the majority of voters in the United States intend to vote early. According to a recent Rasmussen Reports survey, 58% of likely voters plan to cast their ballots early, a substantial increase from 44% before the 2022 midterms. This growing inclination towards early voting has been influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in state voting laws that facilitated vote-by-mail options. Specifically, the survey notes that 21% of voters plan to vote early by mail, while 37% intend to vote early in person. This shift marks a notable departure from the traditional practice of voting on Election Day at local polling venues.
Election history to be made as most will vote early
The American tradition of pouring into schools and fire halls to vote on Election Day is sunsetting as a majority of people plan to vote early for the first time in history.
In the latest Rasmussen Reports survey shared with Secrets on Tuesday, 58% of likely voters said they plan to vote early, a huge jump from the 44% who said that before the 2022 midterm elections.
The shift to early voting, once just for those who planned to be absent on Election Day, was sped up by the COVID-19 crisis and states that shifted to vote-by-mail campaigns.
This year, found Rasmussen, 21% plan to vote early by mail and 37% plan to vote early in person.
