Elon Musk to Replace Twitter Logo, Remove ‘All The Birds’
Elon Musk Announces Twitter’s Logo Change to “X”
In an exciting development, Twitter owner Elon Musk revealed over the weekend that the social media platform will soon bid farewell to its iconic bird logo. Musk took to Twitter late Saturday to share his plans, expressing a preference for the letter “X” as the new symbol. His initial tweet, “Paint It Black,” was followed by a poll asking users to vote on changing the platform’s default color to black. As of now, approximately 75% of users have voted in favor of the switch.
Musk further tweeted, “And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” This suggests a complete departure from the bird motif. Excitingly, Musk hinted that the change might happen sooner than expected. In another tweet, he mentioned that if a suitable “X” logo is posted that night, it could go live as early as Monday.
To give users a glimpse of what the new logo might look like, Musk shared an image of Twitter’s current logo set against a faded black background instead of the usual light blue. He captioned the image, “Like this but X,” emphasizing the desire to capture the unique imperfections in all of us.
In a tantalizing tease, Musk posted an image of a flickering “X,” possibly hinting at the closest approximation of the new logo and branding. While the image had no caption, it left Twitter users buzzing with anticipation.

In another tweet, Musk mentioned that the new logo would be ”closest in style” to art deco, providing a clue about the aesthetic direction. Accompanying the tweet was an image of Musk gesturing an “X” in front of a Tesla backdrop, further emphasizing his fondness for the letter.

According to The Guardian, Musk confirmed the logo change during a Twitter Spaces session, stating that it should have been done a long time ago. This aligns with his vision of transforming Twitter into something much bigger. In an interview with the BBC, Musk expressed his goal of creating “X, the everything app,” with Twitter serving as an accelerant towards that vision.
Musk acquired Twitter in October for a staggering $44 billion, and since then, he has been actively making changes to the platform. Notably, he has been responsive to user feedback and poll results, even reinstating former President Donald Trump’s account based on popular demand.
