Elon Musk Responds to Don Lemon’s Cancellation Claim About Joint Show Project
The Tussle Over Free Speech: Musk Clashes with Lemon
When Elon Musk and Don Lemon butted heads during an interview, it set the stage for a falling-out that has caught the eye of digital spectators everywhere. At the core? A “tense” dialogue on elections and the future of SpaceX.
In response to the partnership dissolution rumors, X’s business account emphasized their commitment to “upholding free speech and fostering an environment where diverse voices are heard.”
“’The Don Lemon Show’ is invited to bring its content to X, sans censorship,” furthered the platform, oozing confidence in its role as a haven for creators. ”We do, however, make selective business choices, leading to our decision to not commercially align with the show.”
Adding a personal touch, Musk clarified his view that Lemon’s social-media iteration show mirrored his CNN format—a setup he voiced skepticism over. ”CNN is on the decline, and this would just echo that,” Musk noted. He also critiqued the lack of authenticity, suggesting Lemon was a mere conduit for Jeff Zucker. Despite this, he underscored, ”Lemon/Zucker are welcome like anyone else to build their audience here.”
Don Lemon, in a posted video, remarked on the interview’s tension. “Although challenging, I thought it vital for viewers to see our conversation. Yet, it seems free speech has its limits when it’s about Musk, especially coming from folks like me,” he asserted.
Despite the fallout with Musk and X, Lemon assured, “the show marches on.”
Lemon aired disappointments over his show’s cancellation on X post the Musk interview, arguing that Musk’s vision of a global town square didn’t seem to accommodate tough questions from people like him.
Lemon also teased the airing of the contentious interview on Monday, March 18, promising a wide release across YouTube, X, and podcast platforms to give the audience a full glimpse into their exchange.
