Elon Musk, a billionaire from San Francisco, announced on Monday that he will introduce” TruthGPT ,” an artificial intelligence ( AI ) platform, to compete with products from Google and Microsoft.
He claimed that Microsoft-backed OpenAI, the company behind the robot feeling ChatGPT, had” trained the AI to lie” and that it had just turned into a” closed resource”” for – money” organization that was closely allied with Microsoft.
Additionally, he charged Google co-founder Larry Page with failing to take AI health seriously.
Musk stated in an interview with Tucker Carlson of Fox News Channel on Monday,” I’m’m going to start something I call” TruthGPT ,” or a maximum truth-seeking AI that tries to understand the nature of the universe.”
TruthGPT, he claimed,” might be the best route to safety ,” which would be” unlikely to annihilate man.”
Simply put, it’s’s starting soon. Musk said,” But I’ll’ll try to come up with a third option.”
Reuters’ requests for comment were neither promptly answered by Musk, OpenAI, Microsoft, or Page.
People with knowledge of the situation told Reuters that Musk has been hiring AI researchers from Alphabet Inc. ‘ s Google to start a business that will compete with OpenAI.
According to a state registration, Musk registered X. AI Corp. next month. The company is incorporated in Nevada. Jared Birchall, the managing director of Musk’s’s household work, was listed as a secretary by the company along with Musk as its single manager.
” CIVILIZATIONAL DESTRUCTION”
The decision was made despite Musk’s’s and a group of business executives and experts in artificial wisdom calling for an immediate six-month pause before creating systems that are more potent than the recently released GPT-4 from OpenAI, citing significant social risks.
During the meeting with Carlson, Musk reiterated his concerns about AI, stating that, in the excerpts,” AI is more damaging than, say, underfunded aircraft design or production maintenance or poor car production.”
He claimed that it has the potential to destroy civilization.
For instance, he claimed that a super intelligent AI can write extremely well and even sway public opinion.
He stated in a tweet over the weekend that he had previously met with previous U.S. President Barack Obama and advised him that Washington should” encourage AI restriction.”
Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015, but he left the table of the business in 2018. He tweeted in 2019 that he had to concentrate on Tesla and SpaceX, leaving OpenAI.
Additionally, he stated in a tweet at the time that Tesla was competing for some of the same men as OpenAI and that” I didn’t agree with many of what the strange company wanted to do ,” which was another reason for his departure from the organization.
Twitter, a social media platform that Musk purchased for$ 44 billion last year, now reports to him as CEO. Musk is also the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.
Musk reportedly valued Twitter at” less than half” of the learning price, according to an interview with Fox News.
