Elon Musk Slams Concept of a “World Government” at World Government Summit
Elon Musk isn’t perfect, and many of his decisions can be criticized. Musk is not perfect, but there are some things you can complain about.
Musk was exactly like this when he addressed the crowd at the World Government Summit (WGS).. WGS is a high profile event that allows leaders to share ideas and visions on pressing issues of today. There are thousands of leaders at the event, including 250 ministers as well as heads of 80 international and regional governmental organizations.
Musk explained that the world should not be too dependent on one government. “I know this is called the World Government Summit, but I think we should be a little concerned about becoming too much of a single world government. If I may say, we want to avoid creating a civilizational risk by having, frankly — this may sound a little odd — too much cooperation between governments,” Musk stated.
The Tesla CEO saw the Irony in his words The name of the event is an interesting one. However, Musk explained that if one were to look at the rise and fall of civilizations, humanity’s survival could mostly be credited to other civilizations that were thriving while one was declining.
“If you look at history at the rise and fall of civilizations, throughout history, civilizations have risen and fallen, but it hasn’t meant the doom of humanity as a whole because there have been all these separate civilizations that were separated by great distances,” Musk stated.
Musk observed that one good example would be the fall the Roman Empire which occurred around the same time Islam was gaining momentum. Musk said that this helped to preserve a lot scientific and knowledge advancements. Musk saw this as a sign that civilizational diversity was the best way forward.
“We wanna have some amount of civilizational diversity such that if something does go wrong with some part of civilization, the whole thing doesn’t collapse and humanity keeps moving forward,” Musk stated.
Musk supported his position on Twitter. He responded to a video of his talk by noting that the WGS “seemed like the right venue” Send your thoughts to him.
While Musk’s words typically attract a lot of polarizing reactions online, his comments about the dangers of a single world government were well-appreciated by many. On Twitter alone, numerous users lauded the CEO’s stance, partly due to the fact that it’s a sensible sentiment and partly because Musk shared his thoughts at an event that directly references a single world government.
